Obituary for Juan Pablo Gonzales
Graveside services for Juan Pablo “Speedy” Gonzales, 82, of Summerville, S.C. and formerly of Lancaster, S.C. will be held at 11:00 o’clock a.m., Saturday, November 23, 2019, in the Kershaw City Cemetery, Kershaw, S.C. with military honors.
Mr. Gonzales passed away peacefully Monday, November 18, at his home, surrounded by family. Born in Charlotte, Texas on July 6, 1937 to the late Juan Pablo and Margarita Ramos Gonzales. He married Mina Ann Morgan Gonzales on October 8, 1963 in Conway, S.C.
Mr. Gonzales served in the United States Air Force, as an Airman 2C Flight Mechanic, and was stationed at the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base in Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was honorably discharged in December of 1963.
After leaving the service, Mr. Gonzales lived in Lancaster, S.C. for over 45 years. He was employed by Morrison Textile Machinery Company in Fort Lawn, S.C., retiring as a Machine Shop Foreman in 1999.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mina Ann Morgan Gonzales; a sister, Herlinda Miranda of San Antonia, Texas; a son, Juan Carlos Gonzales and his wife Mary Beth of Summerville, S.C.; a daughter, Lisa Gonzales King and her husband Mark of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; a grandson, Juan Pablo Gonzales and granddaughters, Morgan Amelia Gonzales and Emma Elizabeth Gonzales all of Summerville, S.C. and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, San Juana Martinez, Paula Martinez, Dominga G. Munoz, Victoria Velasquez, Josefa G. Gallegos, Teresa De La Rosa and Lily Gonzales.
The family will receive friends immediately following the burial in the cemetery.
