Jonathan William Craig

Jonathan William Craig, 42, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday evening, September 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jonathan was born in Monroe, N.C., to the late Robert William “Bill” Craig and Mary Frances Campbell Craig. He worked as a sales consultant in the manufactured housing industry, where his outgoing personality and ability to connect with others served him well.

Jonathan lived life to the fullest and never met an adventure he didn't enjoy. He had a passion for fishing, fast cars, and anything with a motor. Whether it was a car, go-kart, or motorcycle, Jonathan was always ready to see how fast it could go and, if given the chance, turn it into a race. He enjoyed taking cruises with his family, making memories along the way, and proudly cheering on his beloved Carolina Panthers.

Jonathan was also a talented artist who found joy and creativity in painting. He created many beautiful paintings that reflected his artistic spirit and will remain treasured by those who loved him. He especially cherished the memories he made at the beach, where he could slow down, enjoy the beauty around him, and watch countless sunrises and sunsets with his faithful canine companion, Buddy, by his side.

Family meant everything to Jonathan. He deeply missed his father, “Bill”, who was not only his dad but also his best friend and confidant. Their bond was one that Jonathan carried with him throughout his life. Above all, Jonathan treasured his daughter, Alivia Shay Helms, who was truly his world. He also cherished his relationship with Ashley Dawn Helms, the love of his life, and the many family members and friends who brought love, laughter, and meaning to his life.

Jonathan leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories to his daughter, Alivia Shay Helms; Ashley Dawn Helms; two half-sisters, Dana Seymour and Michelle Coker; a half-brother, Jason Jones; his special friends, Ian, Joseph, Matt Love, Matt Starnes, Matt Rape, Rose, Katie, and Justin Crocker; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, including his special cousin, Daniel Craig, who remained by his side with unwavering love and support throughout the final years of his courageous cancer journey. He also leaves behind his beloved dog and faithful companion, Buddy.

Those who knew Jonathan will remember his adventurous spirit, his love for his family, his artistic talents, his appreciation for life's simple moments, and the many memories he created with the people he loved. Though his time here was far too short, the love he gave and the memories he leaves behind will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 210 E. Hilton Street, Kershaw, S.C. 29067. A funeral service celebrating Jonathan's life will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The burial will be held privately for the family.
