Martha Wallace Roberts

Martha Roberts Wallace, 60, of Mt. Croghan, S.C., passed away Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Atrium Health Union in Monroe, N.C.

Born in Lancaster, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Gaylord Roberts and Helen Thompson Roberts. Martha retired from Chesterfield Yarn Mill. In her spare time, she enjoyed working puzzle books, fishing, watching soap operas, and reading romance novels. She especially loved traveling to the beach. Martha treasured the time spent with her beloved canine companion, Little Bit, who was always by her side. She was of the Baptist faith.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jimmy W. Self, Jr. (Christopher Shaun Vazquez); her daughter, Sherri Marie Joplin (Anthony); her stepchildren, Patty Barbosa (Ricky Gonzales), Tommy Wallace, Jr. (Dana), Tammy Michelle Walters, and Todd Wendell Wallace (Shirley); her grandchildren, Ava Joplin and Isaac Joplin; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother, Paul Mitchum Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy L. Wallace, Sr.; her grandson, Levi Joplin; and her brother, Gary Travis Roberts.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 2, 2026, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Providence Baptist Church in Kershaw, S.C. The funeral service will follow immediately at 3:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.

Serving as pallbearers will be Maximo Barbosa, Ricky Gonzales, Damion Mills, Michael Smith, Andy Sullivan, and Danny Ray Wallace.
