Obituary for Burdette B. Conyers
Burdette B. Conyers went to her heavenly home on February 19, 2021 at the age of ninety one. She was born December 4, 1929 in Lugoff, S.C. to Reverend Willie Barfield and Alberta Jackson Barfield. The second of nine children, Burdette grew up in a close knit family. She was a 1945 Camden High School graduate.

Mrs. Conyers was married to the late Joe W. Conyers for 66 years. She retired from the Camden DuPont Textile Company after thirty-three plus years of service.

Her heart was in the ministry of Kershaw Second Baptist Church where she taught the Mother’s class for fifty years. She was a ray of sunshine to all who knew her. She will be sorely missed.

She was predeceased by her husband; parents; brother, Charles Lester; step-mother, Thelma Barfield and sister, Willie Mae Dennis; brothers-in-law, Roy Brazell, Sandy Blackmon and Lamar Jones; a sister-in-law, Doris Barfield and a step brother-in-law, Clyde Branham.
She is survived by sisters, Lucille Brazell, Ruth Blackmon, Peggy Jones all of Lugoff, S.C., Patricia Sims and her husband Ralph of Camden, S.C., Grace Polk and her husband, Jimmy of Bishopville, S.C.; a brother, Edward Barfield of Lugoff, S.C.; a brother-in-law, Tom Dennis of Bonneau, S.C.; a step-brother, Cleon Moseley and his wife, Sylvia and a step-sister, Carolyn Branham all of Westville, S.C.; eleven nieces and nephews and a greater number of grand nieces and nephews upon whom she doted.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to World Vision, Post Office Box 78481, Tacoma, Washington 98481-8481, Gideon’s International, Post Office Box, 664, Lugoff, S.C. 29078, or Kershaw Second Baptist Church, 7737 Kershaw Camden Highway, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at Kershaw Second Baptist Church, Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 3:00 o’clock p.m. in the church sanctuary. A visitation will be held at Baker Funeral Home, Tuesday, February 23, 2021 from 1:00 to 2:30 o’clock p.m. prior to the service.

A private interment will follow the church service in Kershaw City Cemetery alongside her husband.

We ask that all attending the visitation and funeral service please practice social distancing and a face covering is required.
