William Leslie Gainey, Jr.

William Leslie Gainey, Jr., age 53, of Kershaw, S.C. passed away, Sunday evening, September 7, 2025, at Lexington Medical Center, Lexington, S.C. He was born in Lancaster, S.C. on November 2, 1971, to the late William Leslie Gainey, Sr. and Emma Lee Knight Gainey. He was an arborist who owned his own tree service. He loved to fish, spend time by the creek and go to the drag strip. He also cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Stephanie (Alex Cruz) Smith of Pageland, S.C., Brittany (Jose Rivas) Gainey of Mr. Croghan, S.C. and Christa (Ernest) Payne of Mt. Croghan, S.C.; 9 grandchildren, Nevaeh, Nicholas, Caiden, Anthony, Audrina, McKenzie, Natalya, Bentley and Grayson; his very special aunt, Sharlene Knight and an aunt, Missy Moree. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Gainey and a grandson.

Family and friends are invited to a gather on Friday afternoon, September 12, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home to remember and reflect on his life and visit the family.
