Thomas Clyburn "Tom" Gregory, 89, of Kershaw, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home, Uriah Plantation, on Friday, July 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 13, 1936, at his family's home in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson Gregory, Jr. and Annie Grace Clyburn Gregory.
Tom faithfully served his community as a rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service, retiring after 25 years of dedicated service. He was a graduate of Wingate College, now Wingate University, where he earned an associate degree in business. He also proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Mr. Gregory was a lifetime member of Abney Lodge # 211 and a member of Omar Shrine Temple.
A man of many interests, Tom was an avid collector with a particular fondness for lighthouses and antique farm tools. He enjoyed sharing meals with family and friends, dining out, and spending quiet evenings watching classic westerns. His faith was an important part of his life. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and, more recently, a devoted member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 57 years, Dorothy Love "Dottie" Gregory; his son, John Clyburn Gregory, R.Ph.; his aunt, Melody Clyburn Craig; and his nephew, Robert Shawn Gregory.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Beckham Gregory and Lanny Rhett Gregory, Sr., and his sister, Mary Lou Gregory Phillips.
A funeral service celebrating Tom's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in the sanctuary of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. T. Jason Moss and the Rev. Bryant D. Fersner will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church sanctuary. A private family burial will follow in Kershaw City Cemetery.
Memorial remembrances may be made to Kershaw Second Baptist Church, Building Fund, 7737 Kershaw Camden Highway, Kershaw, South Carolina 29067.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Cauthen, Reggie Eubanks, Ronnie D. Hinson, Tommy Pardue, Terry Turner, and Ashli Young.
