Thomas Wayne Roberts was born on December 1, 1940, in the Buffalo community of Kershaw, S.C. and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 11, 2025.
He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was known for his love of his family and friends, strength of character, and his determination to always persevere. He and his wife Julia of 63 years raised a beautiful family that continues to spread his and God’s love.
Over his lifetime he had many different passions. He was a golfer, hunter, runner, Boy Scout leader, Harley rider, bicyclist and car enthusiast. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, Kershaw, where over the years, he served as deacon, security team member and prayer group member that visited those unable to attend church. He retired from DuPont after 30 years of employment.
He will be remembered for his love of his Lord and Savior, his unconditional love for his family and friends and his unwavering strength he demonstrated every day. He lived a good and admirable life. He was the son of Cletis and Nettie Mae Roberts.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Julia McEntire Roberts, his daughters Amy Twitty (John) and Christy Thompson (Mark); his grandchildren John Twitty (Ana) and Rachel McLamb (Mark) and his brother, Johnny Roberts (Diane) and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by his brothers Jackie Roberts, Ronnie Roberts, and Ted Roberts.
The family will greet friends on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. in Kershaw Second Baptist Church Family Life Center.
A funeral service to remember and celebrate his life will be on Tuesday following the visitation at 3:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. T. Jason Moss will officiate.
