Theo Jewett Stroud

Mrs. Theo Jewett Stroud, age 89, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, at MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center in Lancaster, South Carolina.

She was born on August 17, 1936, in Jefferson, South Carolina, to Maybelle and Luther Jewett. She lived for decades in the Flat Creek, Haile Gold Mine, and Midway communities and was a faithful member of Midway Baptist Church. Theo was a wonderful mother, devoted wife, loving sister, cherished family member, and dear friend to all who knew her.

She graduated from Flat Creek High School in 1954. During her life, she worked for Springs Mills, the Lebanon, Pennsylvania, School District, and as a temporary Civil Service employee at the Indiantown Gap Military Reservation in Pennsylvania. She began working at Joslyn Clark Control in Lancaster in 1964 and retired in 1994.

Theo loved the Lord and read her Bible every night. She was thoughtful, loving, caring, respectful, generous, and always willing to help others. She consistently put the needs of others before her own. She was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Bobby L. Stroud, and her only ("favorite") child, Lisa Stroud. She is also survived by five of her nine siblings: Robert (Emanuela) Jewett of Trieste, Italy; Mike (Jennifer) Jewett of Lancaster, South Carolina; Gerald (Janice) Jewett of Kershaw, South Carolina; Linda (Kenneth) Bradley of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Judy (Frank) Cottone of Florence, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by four siblings, all of Kershaw: Erline (Harley) Boltz, Albert (Dot) Jewett, Randolph (Hazel) Jewett, and Carroll (Sheila) Jewett. She also leaves behind many special nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

During her 89 years, Theo touched countless lives with her love, gentleness, generosity, wisdom, humor, and kindness. She loved her family and friends with all her heart. A beautiful soul has left us far too soon.

As we mourn our loss, we also celebrate her life and the joy, love, and passion for life that she carried with her until the very end.

Our family sincerely thanks everyone for the love, prayers, and support shown during these difficult weeks.

The service will be officiated by Reverend Todd Gandy, and Baker Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home in Kershaw, South Carolina.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 10, at 4:00 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church in Kershaw, with burial immediately following in Midway Cemetery.
