Susan Elaine Scott Rollings, age 73, of Heath Springs S.C., passed away, Sunday, September 22, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.
A country girl, born in the Haile Gold Mine Community, Susan Elaine Scott Rollings was vibrant and out-going. Susan was a graduate of Flat Creek High School. She loved being outdoors. She was always up for an outing with family … trips to the beach, shopping, lunches, church outings, worship services … she was wonderful company on any trip. She loved her community and played the piano at both Haile Gold Mine and Pleasant Plain. She always said it was an honor to play for a friend’s funeral or wedding. First and foremost, Susan loved the Lord and knew Jesus Christ as her Savior. She shared her knowledge of the Bible and her love for God with all, especially her Senior Ladies Adult Class where she was the teacher. She sang God’s praises with passion and loved beautiful hymns. When her spirit was troubled, you could hear her playing hymns on her piano at home.
She had a great sense of humor, always ready to smile and laugh with others. Her favorite hobby was sending cards. She lovingly selected every card for the Bible verse. It had to “fit” the recipient.
Susan loved to have fun and was a delight to be around. Her favorite trips were to Maggie Valley and Pigeon Forge. Myrtle Beach was also at the top of her list - - you could find her on the pier reading her book or playing crossword puzzles and there always had to be a bag of grapes to nibble on. She didn’t like to touch the fish, but she sure enjoyed other’s fishing abilities.
She was known for her sweet nature and easy sense of humor. A huge group of friends and family loved her dearly and supported her and her family throughout the ups and downs of her life.
Employed by Springs Industries for 41 years gave her an opportunity to make more friends. After retiring there she worked at Haile Gold Mine (OceanaGold) and then was employed part-time at the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office up until May 2024, working many days when she was sick. She had a passion for helping others and enjoyed working alongside the deputies that serve and protect our community. Since she was the baby of the family, she absolutely adored her daddy and momma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Barnwell Scott and Alma Christine Payne Scott. It broke her heart when her husband of 25 years, Leon Ramsey Rollings died in 1994 from cancer. Also, her brothers Jackie Donald, Jerry Ronald, and Harold Ernest and her sister-in-law, Janet Scott and her brothers-in-law, Billy Rollings and Earl Faulkenberry preceded her in death. Can you imagine their Heavenly reunion! She is survived by her children, Scott and his wife, Hope (Faulkenberry), Kristal and her husband, Jimmy Stroud, all of Kershaw; her grandsons, Tripp (Jetta Lewis, fiancé) Rollings, Kipp (Marissa) Rollings and Trey (Leslie Sowell) Rollings; her great grandchildren, Jayden, Royce, Stella, Kutter and Kixx; a sister, Patricia F. Hinson and her husband Wayne; two sisters-in-law, Jo Scott and Frances Brazell. She had a great love for nieces and nephews and their children, cousins and lots of friends whom she loved deeply. Susan was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be remembered fondly and missed very much by all who knew and loved her.
