Rickey Clayton Payne

Graveside inurnment service for Rickey C. Payne, 59, formerly of Kershaw, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 2, 2009, in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. John Rogers will officiate.

Mr. Payne died Monday, February 23, 2009 . Born in Camden, he was the son of Bobbie Ruth Reeves and the late Billy Coleman Payne. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and his presence
will be missed. He served in the Vietnam Conflict as a dog handler and was extremely devoted to Veterans and their care.

Surviving are his wife; Valerie Anne Payne of the home, his mother; Bobbie Ruth Reeves, his step-father; James E. Reeves, a son; Ronald Arthur Schwimer, III, two daughters; Virginia Anne Payne and Nicole Ruth Payne, a brother; Mitchell Payne, two sisters; Patty Holden and Pam Faulkenberry and a number of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 Eighteenth Street, Washington, D.C. 20006-3517 or to Augusta Humane Society, P.O. Box 12035, Augusta, Georgia, 30914-2035.

The family is at the home of his mother and step-father, 6318 Kershaw-Camden Highway., Kershaw.

The family will speak to friends following the service at the cemetery.
