Phillip Wayne Douglas, age 79, of Kershaw, S.C., affectionately known by family and friends as “Phil,” passed away suddenly on Saturday evening, May 23, 2026. Born in Siler City, N.C., he was the son of the late Ollie Frances Douglas and Nora Brooks Douglas.
Phil spent many years working as an Industrial Engineer in the textile industry and proudly served his country in the National Guard Reserves. In recent years, he enjoyed working at Kershaw Builder’s Supply, where he spent the past six years meeting new people, sharing stories, and making lasting friendships with customers and coworkers alike.
Phil never met a stranger. He was known for his quick wit, great sense of humor, and ability to make others laugh wherever he went. A natural storyteller and jokester, he brought joy to those around him with his warm personality and unforgettable tales. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life — golfing, cooking, traveling to the beach, playing cards, and shooting pool — but his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Kay Morgan Douglas; his daughter, Brooke Douglas Miller and her husband, Danny; his stepchildren, Tim McManus and Wendy Coleman; his grandchildren, Aliya Miller, Christian Miller, and Caden Miller; a step granddaughter, Caroline Elizabeth Coleman and his great-granddaughter, Sparrow Denis. He is also survived by his siblings, Jerry Douglas, Judy Norris, and Michael Douglas, Ralph Douglas and Sarah Towery; his sister-in-law, June McCoy; and his brother-in-law, Ronnie S. Morgan, along with many extended family members, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him deeply.
In addition to his parents, Phil was preceded in death by his brothers, Archie Douglas and Tommy Douglas, and his brother-in-law, Keith Morgan.
Honoring Phil’s wishes, he will be cremated and no formal service will be held.
Arrangements are under the care of Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, S.C.
