Perry James, 67, of Hartsville, S.C., passed away surrounded by the love of his family at his home after a courageous journey and battle with cancer. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, loyal friend, and a man whose strength and love for his family will never be forgotten. Perry shared 41 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Gail James. Together they built a life centered around family, love, and unwavering support for one another. He was the proud father of Jessica (Brandon) Peavy and Bubba James. Nothing brought Perry more joy than his family. He was a proud grandfather to Abby, Jaxon, and Emily Kate, and shared an unbreakable bond with his grandson Cayden James, who was truly like a son to him. Perry loved Cayden deeply and cherished every moment spent with him. Their relationship was one built on unconditional love, guidance, laughter, and pride.

In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, he is survived by a special sister-in-law, Myra James. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Caleb James, whom he missed and carried in his heart every day. He was also preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and his mother-in-law, who loved him dearly, Gaynell Horton.

Perry also held a special place in his heart for his nephews, Marvin and Wesley Lambert, who were like sons to him. Perry treasured his friendships throughout his life, especially the lasting friendship and love shared with Ken Cogley, Jill Hall & Mike Brock Perry was known for his strong will, generous heart, sense of humor, and the way he always showed up for the people he loved. His family will forever cherish the memories, lessons, laughter, and unconditional love he gave so freely. Though his presence will be deeply missed, the love he poured into his family will continue to live on for generations. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hollings Cancer Center and MUSC for the compassionate care, kindness & support shown to Perry.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Beauford Baptist Church McBee, SC.

The family will be receiving guests at the residence, 2322 Substation Road, Hartsville, S.C. 29550.

No services are planned at this time.
