Peggy Freeman Thompson

A service of worship to celebrate and remember the life of Peggy Freeman Thompson, 77, will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in Thorn Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. Todd Gandy will officiate with a private burial to be held at a later date. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Thompson entered into rest on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at her home. Born in Kershaw County, SC, she was a daughter of the late J.T. and Hattie Rollins Freeman. She was a member of Thorn Hill Baptist Church where she served in the church music ministry, Sunday School teacher, and numerous other jobs. She enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers and never missed a ballgame when one of her grandkids were playing. She worked for several companies in accounts payable through the years, but her favorite job was being Nana and taking care of her grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughters, Angela Thompson, Melissa (Todd) Gandy; grandchildren, Heath Gandy, Matthew Gandy, Olivia Gandy, J.T. Gandy, Jake Hayhurst; Ariana Gandy, Ariel Gandy; sisters, Betty (Wayne) Bartell, Mae (Frankie) Blackmon, Pat (Larry) Robinson; brothers, Thomas (Judy) Freeman, Jesse (Margaret) Freeman, Donnie (Lisa) Freeman; sister-in-law, Donna Freeman; special adopted family, Sissy Walker, Rachael Walker, Curtis Massey; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Wallace Thompson; brothers, James (Anne) Freeman, Earl Freeman and Lonnie Freeman.
