Paul L. Huckabee

Paul Laborn Huckabee, 88, of Bethune, SC passed away peacefully at his home on August 14, 2025. He was born on December 20, 1936, to the late Dalton Huckabee and Gussie Mobley Huckabee. Paul married his sweetheart, Barbara M. McQuage in 1956, and they shared a wonderful life together until her death in April 2023.

Paul was hard-working and dedicated. He spent over 40 years with The Kendall Company where he retired as the warehouse manager. He was a devoted member of Bethune Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder for many years. Additionally, he was President of the Scotch Cemetery Board and a member of Lynchwood Lodge #197, Bethune, SC.

His hobbies and interests were significant aspects of his identity. Paul maintained an extensive garden and often shared produce such as tomatoes and squash with friends and family. He was a dedicated supporter of all the Carolina sports teams and held membership in The Gamecock Club for many years. Additional pursuits included woodworking, picture framing, wine making, collecting antique cars, model trains, as well as hunting and fishing.

In 2000, he and his son established Huckabee Farms and that kept him on his toes. His happy place in his later years was on a big tractor in the middle of a corn field.

Paul was a man of integrity, kindness and humility and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. If Paul knew of someone that needed help with something, he was most likely one of the first to show up with a helping hand.

He is survived by 4 children, Kim Fulmer and her husband, John, Lisa Huckabee; Jill Huckabee Wolfe and her husband, Kip and Paul Huckabee, Jr. and his wife, Wendy; 9 grandchildren, Justin Mays and his wife, Heather, Jonathan Mays and his wife, Christine, Elizabeth Mays, Savannah McAllister and her husband, Zach, Mason Wolfe and his wife, Sarah Anne, Marina Wolfe, Madison Huckabee, Bailey Huckabee and Emily Huckabee; 11 great grandchildren, Landon McAllister, Meredith Outen, Laine Outen, Waylon McAllister, Preston McAllister, Jordan Mays, Ian Mays, Eva Mays, Cheyanne Hicks and Brayden Hicks, Beckitt Stephens; his brother, Blake Huckabee and his handsome boxer, Huck, all who will miss him dearly.
