Obituary for Kenneth S. Rast
Kenneth Shuler Rast, 86 of Myrtle Beach and formerly of Kershaw died Sunday, January 26, 2014. Mr. Rast, widower of Mary Erma Floyd Rast was born September 13, 1927, in Eutawville, S.C. He was the son of the late Snowden and Eva Claire Dantzler Mitchum. He was formerly employed with Kershaw Builder’s Supply working as a electrician, plumber and carpenter. Mr. Rast also enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting. Mr. Rast served his county in the United States Navy during World War II. Surviving are 2 daughters, Rene Humphries of Myrtle Beach, Susan Daughtery of Sumter ; a son, Kenneth E. Rast of Manning; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Samuel T. Mitchum of Neeses, 2 sisters, Catherine Senn of Leesville and his twin, Eva Clair Rush of Holly Hill. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Singleton. The family will hold a service to remember and reflect on his life at a later date. Mr. Rast will be cremated. Memorials in Mr. Rast’s memory made be made to his church, Flat Creek Baptist Church, 3737 Victory Road, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
