Mildred Phillips Payne

Mildred Phillips Payne, age 92, passed away, Monday evening, May 5, 2025, at MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center, Lancaster, S.C. Born in Kershaw, SC. She was the daughter of the late Luther Phillips and Mae Blocker Phillips. She was formerly employed with Springs Industries and Caro Knit. She was a faithful member of Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church. Mrs. Payne enjoyed working in her yard and tending her flowers. She cherished the time she spent with her family.

She is survived by 2 sons, Jeff (Kathy) Payne of Winnsboro, S.C and Karl (Sarah) Payne and his wife, Sarah of Columbia, S.C.; 6 grandchildren, Eddy (Sonya) Payne, Shaun Payne, Ryan (Alona) Payne, Matthew Payne, Ashley Grace Payne and Don Payne, Jr. and 4 great grandchildren and sister, Loree Caldwell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Ben Payne, sons, Don Payne, Ray Payne and Hal Payne and siblings, Esther Faile, Jackie Phillips Truesdale, Lois Truesdale, Bill Phillips, Odell Phillips and Waldo Phillips.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held, Thursday afternoon, May 8, 2025, at 4:00 P.M. in the sanctuary of Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church. Rev. Edgar Horton will officiate. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church Fellowship Hall.
