Michael Anthony Hayes

Michael Anthony Hayes, age 65, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Born in Camden, S.C. he was a son of the late Thomas Russell Hayes and Norma Holley Strohminger. Michael was a talented carpenter. He was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School and attended Providence Baptist Church and never missed an opportunity to share God’s word. He was also a horse trainer and loved the outdoors. He especially enjoyed riding horses at Love Valley. He had a giving heart and was always willing to help others.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Michaela A. Jones and her husband, Michael of Cumming, Ga. and Kara Grace Hayes of Greenville, S.C.; 2 grandchildren, Lincoln H. Jones and Lydia H. Jones; 2 brothers, Lt. Col. Randy Young, USAF (Retired) and Rusty Hayes and his wife, Cheryl ; 3 sisters, Patti Smith and her husband, Paul, Tina C. Ross and her husband, B.C. and Kelley C. Boone and her husband, Billy, all of Kershaw, S.C. He is also survived by 3 aunts, Joanne Neal of Lancaster, S.C., Sheila Hinson of Kershaw, S.C. and Betty Sue Sowell of FL.: his special friend, Susan Boone of Camden, S.C. and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Grandma Holley’s home, 189 Catoe, Kershaw, S.C.

A memorial service to remember his life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Providence Baptist Church, Kershaw, S.C. Rev. Todd Gandy will conduct the service.

A private family burial will take place at a later date.
