Michael Patrick Conroy, age 29 of Waxhaw, N.C., passed away, Friday evening, September 13, 2024, at Carolinas Medical Center – Main, Charlotte, N.C. Born November 29, 1994, in Atlanta, GA, he was the loving son of James Patrick Conroy and Janice Faith Ogburn Conroy. He loved playing the drums and watching movies. He also loved listening to music and spending time with his family. He cherished the conversations with his father and was a great cook.
Michael is survived by his parents, his sister, Rachel Conroy Kerfonta and her husband, Andrew and their children, Henry Kerfonta and Audrey Kerfonta; his maternal grandmother, Clarine Ogburn Bradley and his aunts and uncles, Carol Conroy, Mike and Jean Conroy, Kathleen and Bobby Harvey, Tim and Terrye Conroy, Holley and Derrick Williams and Wayne Ogburn. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Judson Ogburn; his paternal grandparents, Donald Conroy and Peggy Egan and uncles, Pat Conroy, Tom Conroy and David Ogburn.
Michael was our best friend. He loved music and watching movies with us. He fixed anything that broke in the house and enjoyed working on minor problems with his car. If it was on YouTube, he would be willing to try and fix it. He also learned to cook on YouTube and was always sharing his creations.
Michael was very generous in many ways. He would always share it with his friends or those close to him. He brought many people home with him because they were hungry or did not have a place to stay. I always selfishly wished that he would not be so generous.
Michael loved it when I talked about his aunt and uncles and especially loved talking about the Gamecocks. Michael attended many games with me and the rule was that if he attended, he could pick out the restaurant before or after the game. If it was an away game, he could pick out the hotel. When Michael was young, this meant the hotel had to have a pool and room service. Those were his only requirements. Michael was a serial abuser of room service. There was nothing Michael would not order from the room service menu.
Michael had a great love for animals. He adored our parrots and spent countless hours playing with them. He would feed our neighbors’ dogs with treats when he saw them outside.
Michael had a great smile, and everyone loved his hair. His haircuts always elicited compliments.
Michael was one of the nicest and most polite people I have ever known. He would hug us often and tell us how appreciative he was of his family. He told us every day about how much he loved us. We will miss him dearly.
A service to remember and celebrate his life will be held on Sunday afternoon, September 22, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. in the Baker Conference Center, 105 N. Minor Street, Kershaw, S.C. Rev. Terry Corder will officiate the service.
