Mary Ann Bowers Thomas, 85, of Kershaw, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2026, at the home of her daughter. A lifelong resident of Kershaw, she was born to the late Sam Bowers and Ruby Mobley Bowers.
Mrs. Thomas devoted many years of service to Springs Industries, where she was known for her strong work ethic and quiet dedication. She was a faithful member of Beaver Creek Presbyterian Church, where her presence and fellowship meant so much to those who knew her. Mary Ann found joy in the simple pleasures of life—tending to her yard, casting a line while fishing, and spending time working around her farm. She took pride in caring for her home and land, always finding comfort in the outdoors and the life she built there.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Woodrow Thomas.
She leaves behind her daughter, Terry Thomas, along with many dear friends and neighbors who will remember her kindness, resilience, and gentle spirit.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 27, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Beaver Creek Presbyterian Church in Kershaw. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in Beaver Creek Cemetery, with Rev. Rodney Foster officiating. Chaplain Suzanne Bachelor will provide the musical selections.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MUSC Health Hospice; Beaver Creek Presbyterian Church, 1928 Kershaw Country Club Road, Kershaw, SC 29067; or the Alzheimer’s Association, South Carolina Chapter, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
Arrangements are under the care of Baker Funeral Home of Kershaw, South Carolina.
