Martin Gordon Kennington

Gordon Kennington, age 86, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 16, 2026.

Born in Kershaw, he was the son of the late Hazel L. Kennington, Sr. and Nancy Gordon Kennington. Mr. Kennington was a dedicated turkey farmer for many years and a true outdoorsman. He cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him great joy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Esther Robinson Kennington; three daughters, Angela Kennington Martin (Toney), Robin Kennington Ihm (Holger), and Jill Kennington Dixon (Chad); and his grandchildren, Samantha Rae Ihm, Caroline Adele Dixon, Madison Rose Dixon, Olivia Marie Ihm, Isabella Grace Ihm, Laythan Aron Kennington, Aubrey Laine Dixon, Brayden Chad Dixon, and Amira Brooke Kennington.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Martin Kennington, and his wife, Cheryl Kennington, along with their daughter, Raechel; two grandsons, Josh Martin Kennington and Zachary Chad Dixon; and siblings, Betty Pruitt, Hazel L. Kennington, Donald Kennington, and Mary Robinson.

The family will greet friends on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. in the Family Life Center of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary, officiated by Dr. T. Jason Moss. Burial will follow at Pleasant Plain Baptist Church Cemetery, Kershaw, South Carolina.
