Marlene Rowell Carnes

Marlene Rowell Carnes, affectionately known as “Molly,” 79 of Heath Springs, S.C., passed away Monday evening, August 17, 2026, at MUSC Charleston in Charleston, S.C.

Born in Camden, S.C., she was the daughter of the late William Granson Rowell and Sara Frances Faulkenberry Rowell. Marlene was a 1965 graduate of Baron DeKalb High School and was a longtime employee of Wal-Mart. She was a faithful member of Hanging Rock Methodist Church.

Marlene found great joy in cooking for her family and friends, keeping her home clean, and tending to her garden. She will be remembered for the love she shared with those around her and the special place she held in the hearts of her family and friends.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Warren Ray Carnes; her daughter, Dr. Lori C. Moseley and her husband, Pastor Steven Moseley; her son, Kyle Dean Carnes and his wife, April Carnes; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Moseley, William Moseley, Jeremy Moseley and his wife, Amanda, Leena Filson, and Sara Carnes; and her special cousin, Bobbie Jean Cauthen.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Granson Rowell, and two nephews.

A service to celebrate Marlene’s life will be held Saturday afternoon, August 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, 210 East Hilton Street, Kershaw, S.C. 29067. Her son-in-law, Pastor Steven Moseley, will officiate the service.

The family will receive friends following the service until 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial remembrances may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
