Marjorie Helms Hendrix

Marjorie Helms Hendrix, age 82, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away peacefully on Monday evening, June 15, 2026.

Born in Monroe, N.C., she was the daughter of the late William “Ed” Helms and Frankie Lucille “Lucy” Hargett Helms. Marjorie was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend whose kind and thoughtful nature touched the lives of many. She was a former employee of Springs Industries and a member of First Baptist Church of Kershaw.

Marjorie found great joy in sewing and creating handmade crafts, often sharing her talents with others. She was especially dedicated to her card ministry, a simple yet meaningful expression of her caring spirit. Whether celebrating a birthday, marking a holiday, offering sympathy, or sending words of encouragement, she rarely let an occasion pass without reaching out. Through these thoughtful gestures, she brightened countless lives and reminded others that they were loved and remembered.

In recent years, Marjorie was deeply grateful for the ministry and fellowship of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. She treasured the visits, companionship, and acts of kindness extended to her by its members, finding comfort and encouragement in their friendship and support.

She is survived by her sister, Myra Gleaton and her husband, Cecil, of Lancaster, S.C. She is also survived by members of Cecil’s family, whom she loved dearly: Shannon Gleaton and his wife, Sandy; Mandy Hensley; Caden Hensley; and Brianna Gleaton.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her beloved son, Derek Neil Hendrix, whose sudden passing occurred in 2010, and by her husband, Cecil Bernard “Joe” Hendrix, who passed away in 2018.

A funeral service to celebrate and honor her life will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, 210 E. Hilton Street, Kershaw, S.C. The Rev. Dr. T. Jason Moss will officiate. Burial will follow in Kershaw City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and loved ones following the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Kershaw Second Baptist Church Visitation Ministry, 7737 Kershaw Camden Highway, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
