Kathy Linn Petty

Kathy Linn Petty, age 65, of Bethune, S.C., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, S.C.

Born in Torrington, CT, Kathy was the beloved daughter of the late Everett Stanley Lawrence and Bonnie Egbert Lejeune. She devoted many years to her community as a bus driver for Kershaw County School District, where she was known for her kind heart and friendly smile that brightened the days of countless students.

Kathy had a gentle spirit and a love for simple joys. She delighted in crocheting intricate patterns, baking treats that brought family and friends together, and challenging her mind with word searches and Sudoku puzzles. But above all, her greatest joy came from being Memaw to her two cherished grandchildren, whose laughter and hugs filled her heart.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Katelynn Petty (Matthew Sowell); her treasured grandchildren, Kendall Sowell and Darcey Sowell; her sisters, Terry Brean and Kimmie LeJeune; and her brothers, T.J. LeJeune and Ronnie LeJeune. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Herschel Petty, her sister Pam Jycox, and her brother Edward Egbert.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Kathy’s life and share memories at a gathering on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 210 E. Hilton Street, Kershaw, S.C. 29067. Your presence and stories will be a cherished comfort to her family.
