John McLane "Mack" Blaich

John McLane “Mack” Blaich, age 81, of Kershaw, S.C. passed away, Monday morning, August 4, 2025, at his home. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, he was the son of the late Charles Allen Blaich, Sr. and Elizabeth McLane Blaich. He was a United States Marine veteran serving during Vietnam. He was an avid Carolina Gamecock fan and a true outdoors man; he loved to fish and hunt. Mack loved sharing time with his family and friends and enjoyed making them laugh. He was also of Methodist faith. While serving in the Marine Corps, Mr. Blaich obtained the rank of Sergeant and received the following decorations, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 stars, Good Conduct Medal (First Award), Air Medal with 1 star and Combat Aircrew Insignia with 3 stars.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Janet Valley Blaich; his son, Ryan (Betsy McKoy) Blaich; his daughter, Leslie (Adam Lee) Blaich; his brother, Robert “Bobby” Crawford and his wife, Mary; his sister, Susan Burton and her husband, Gary; his sister-in-law, Sally Blaich and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles A. Blaich, Jr.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.in Baker Conference Center, 105 N. Minor Street, Kershaw, S.C. with military honors. Pastor Steve Miller will officiate.

A reception will be held following the service in the Conference Center, and you are cordially invited to greet and visit with the family.

Memorial remembrances may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
