Joel Patrick “Pat” Scott, Sr., age 76, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away Thursday evening, August 20, 2026, at MUSC Kershaw Health Medical Center in Camden, S.C.
Born in Camden, S.C., he was the son of the late Carl William Scott and Susie Emma Reeves Scott. Pat was an insurance appraiser with Scott’s Appraisal Company. He was a member of the 1966 Kershaw High School State Championship football team and a faithful member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church.
Pat loved horses and go-kart racing. He also enjoyed restoring cars, watching football, and cheering on his beloved Clemson Tigers. Most importantly, he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Nancy Catoe Scott; his son, Benji T. Scott; his grandchildren, Piper Scott, Colton Scott, Savannah Scott (Hunter) Jacobs, Tarra Scott (fiancé, Avery), Skyler Cartwright, and Makayla Scott; his great-grandchildren, Alley, Presley, Weston, Ava, Lily, Ella, and Ace; and his brother, Tim Scott.
In addition to his parents, Pat was preceded in death by his son, Joel Patrick Scott, Jr., and his brother, Mike Scott.
A memorial service celebrating Pat’s life will be held Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Kershaw Second Baptist Church, 7737 Kershaw Camden Highway, Kershaw, S.C. 29067. The Revs. Dr. T. Jason Moss and Todd Robinson will officiate.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Arrangements are under the care of Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, S.C.
