Jefferson Allen Ryckman

Jefferson Allen Ryckman, age 57, of Kershaw, passed away at MUSC Lancaster Medical Center on Friday, October 24, 2025.

Services will be held on November 2, 2025, at Baker Funeral Home in Kershaw, SC. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m., followed by the service at 4:00 p.m.

Jeff was born on June 28, 1968, in Kalkaska, Michigan, to Willard Allen and Rebecca Ryckman.

Jeff spent his time on Earth enjoying every facet of life. He cherished exploring new places, trying new things, and providing for his family. His character and values were deeply shaped by his reverence for Jesus Christ and God's Word.

As a child, Jeff lived in North Carolina and later attended Georgia Southern University, where he played rugby in his younger years. In his 20s, he lived in New Mexico, Texas, and eventually Florida, where he became a devoted family man. Later, he and his family made their home in South Carolina, where Jeff embraced a life of beekeeping, gardening, and developed a passion for flowers.

Jeff had a soft spot for animals and was known to feed strays. He was an avid fan of many things — most notably the Detroit Lions, comic books (especially Doctor Strange), Magic: The Gathering, Tom Cruise action movies, and food (often covered in Sriracha hot sauce), with fried chicken being his favorite. Still, nothing compared to his love for adventure with his loved ones, whether it was a trip to the beach or mountains, camping, hiking, attending festivals, or enjoying concerts.

An avid trail runner, Jeff found peace and joy in the outdoors. He was always on the move, appreciating the beauty around him. He was known for his contagious zest for life and his ability to find joy in simple moments. Those who loved him will always be inspired by his legacy of hope and optimism.

He is survived by his children, Nicholas Ryckman, Abigail Ryckman Ruiz, and Elijah Ryckman; his mother, Rebecca Ryckman; his sister, Shannon McDonald; and his partner, Amy Joyce. He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Allen Ryckman.
