James Michael Coates

James Michael “Mike” Coates, age 60, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Wednesday evening, March 6, 2024, at his home. Born in Camden, S.C., he was a son of Linda McInvaille Bowers and the late John Thomas Coates. He worked in the construction industry. Mike enjoyed playing the drums, his guitar and singing.

He is survived in addition to his mother of Kershaw, S.C., by his brother, Jon Mark Coates, and his companion Sarah and several nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Thomas Blake Coates, Derrell Timothy Coates, and Edwin Keith Coates.

A visitation will be held Sunday afternoon, March 10, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.
