James Mackey, Jr.

James “June Bug” Mackey, Jr., age 56, of Lancaster, S.C., passed away, Sunday, October 15, 2023, at his home. Born in Monroe, N.C., he was a son of Shirley McManus Neisler and the late James Mackey. Mr. Mackey was a painter. He enjoyed racing and scratch off lottery tickets. He also cherished the time he spent with his family.

He is survived by 3 sons, Jamie (Brittany) Mackey, Justin (Paulette) Mackey and Kyle Leigh all of Lancaster, S.C.; 9 grandchildren, Kurtlee, Eli, Jerrmy, Natalee, Nathan, Lesly, Anna, Jacob, and Mitchell; 2 brothers, Tommy (Tonya) Mackey of Lancaster, S.C., and Rickey (Rachel) Mackey of Kershaw, S.C.; 2 nieces, 2 nephews and 8 great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to remember his life will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday evening, October 19, 2023, at Baker Conference Center, 105 N. Minor Street, Kershaw, S.C. Rev. Doug Pate will officiate.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service until 7:30 p.m. at the conference center.

Memorials in memory of Mr. Mackey may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
