Hammit “H.B.” Hudson entered his heavenly home on September 8th, 2026, in the company of family, just as he lived his life. H.B. was born the fourth of seven children to Carl Woodrow and Ruby Wright Hudson. From an early age, his work ethic was built in the cotton fields of the Jefferson area and soon brought him to the Springs Textile Plant in Lancaster.
In January 1966, H.B. married Teresa and they soon had two children, Amy and Janice. As hard as H.B. worked, he never missed an opportunity to share his love with his family. From cooking supper after a long day in the cotton mill, to taking his gals on a ride to town and sharing plenty of jokes and laughs, he always placed his family first. Leaving work at the cotton mill later in life gave H.B. even more time to spend with his family. His later years were spent enjoying food he loved, soaking up sunshine and breeze in his favorite chair in the yard, and working in his garden.
H.B. also shared his love of the outdoors with his friends and family. His passion for fishing and running his favorite dogs after raccoons into the wee hours of the morning never left his mind, even decades after those long nights had passed. Throughout his life, H.B. never met a stranger and never hesitated to help someone in need. His gracious generosity spread over everyone he knew, and you could always count on him for a helping hand or the right words of encouragement.
As a lifetime member of Pine Grove Church and a lifelong follower and servant of Jesus Christ, H.B. took his teachings to heart as a leader in his church and an inspiration to his family and community.
In addition to his parents, H.B. was predeceased by his siblings, Mary Cooper, Carl Jr., Dwight, Charles, and Ruth Faile. He is survived by his wife Teresa, daughters Amy Hudson (Phillip Scott) and Janice, granddaughter Morgan Barfield (Stuart), step-grandchildren Justin Shehane (Raven), and James Shehane (Chesney), sister Rachel Helms, numerous beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews, and his faithful dog, Foxy.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening September 10, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Baker funeral Home.
