Grace Elizabeth Joy Hoffman, 18, of Bethune, S.C., passed away, Thursday evening, March 3, 2022, from injuries received from a horseback riding accident at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia, S.C. Born in Independence, Missouri, she was a daughter of Jodi Beth Merling Dahlke and the late Shad Lee Hoffman.
Grace was a 2021 graduate of North Central High School and was attending Central Carolina Technical College majoring in Environmental Science. She was an avid animal lover, especially horses. Grace played the cello and played soccer. She was also involved with dog rescue.
She is survived by her mother and her stepfather, Eric Dahlke; her siblings, Elysia Dahlke, Mikinzie Hoffman, Shad Hoffman II, Corban Hoffman and her stepbrother, Ethan Dahlke; her maternal grandparents, Lauri Magdzas and her husband, Don and Jeff Merling and his wife, Mary Kay; her paternal grandfather, Claude “Skip” Hoffman; uncle, Dustin Hoffman and numerous, aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Debbie Hoffman.
A service to remember her life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday afternoon, March 9, 2022, from the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, 210 E. Hilton Street, Kershaw, S.C.
The family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home.
