Alice Faye Phillips Bowers, age 84, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Thursday morning, August 3, 2023, in White Oak Manor, Lancaster, S.C. Born in Kershaw, S.C., she was a daughter of the late George Washington Phillips, Jr. and Floride Vincent Phillips. Mrs. Bowers was employed with the ASCS office for 40 years. She was also employed with the Kershaw News Era and Clerk of Courts office. She was a member of Hanging Rock United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bowers was very active in her church, she served as a Sunday School teacher, youth leader for many years and a member of the Busy Bee Circle. Mrs. Bowers could best be described as faithful, she was to her family, her church, and her friends. She had been a wonderful caregiver to her late husband and mother for many years.
She is survived by her son, Phillip D. Bowers and his wife, Rhonda; her daughter, Carlette B. Stover and her husband, Charles; three grandchildren, Tyler Stover and his wife, Haley, Dillon Stover, and Sydney Bowers; her great grandson, Colsen and her sister, Sue Bowers. She is also survived by her nephew, Morris Bowers and his wife, Jo and her niece, Suzanne Bowers; her great nephew, Zach, and his wife, Louvisa and their daughter Luna and her great niece, Bailey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, Carl Eugene Bowers.
The funeral service to remember her life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 6, 2023, in the sanctuary of Hanging Rock United Methodist Church, Kershaw, S.C. The Revs. Dr. Eddie Usher and John Baulknight will conduct the service.
A private family burial will precede the service in the church cemetery.
The family will greet friends, immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Memorial remembrances may be made to Hanging Rock United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 146, Kershaw, S.C. 29067 in memory of Mrs. Bowers.
