Earlene Cauthen Phillips

Earlene C. Phillips, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at her home surrounded by the love of her family on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, strength, and unwavering devotion.

Born to Robert Edgar Cauthen and Ethel Williams Cauthen, Earlene was one of four siblings. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Blake Cauthen and Edward Cauthen, and is survived by her sister, Irma Huckabee.

On February 20, 1958, Earlene married the love of her life, Harold Joe Phillips. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, and commitment until his passing on October 20, 2019. Their enduring love remains an inspiration to all who knew them.

Earlene’s strong faith guided her throughout her life. She attended Hanging Rock United Methodist Church in her younger years, Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church after her marriage, and later Laurel Hill Baptist Church, where she continued to grow in faith and fellowship.

Earlene dedicated over 40 years of service to Springs Industries before her retirement, a testament to her strong work ethic and commitment.

She was a devoted mother to her sons, Joey Phillips (Sandy) and Keith Phillips (Donna), and a proud, loving grandmother to Ashley Rushing (Travis), Logan Phillips (Shelli), Haleigh Reynolds (Seth), Alex Jackson (Kasey), Grey Phillips, JoHannah Phillips. Her legacy lives on through her cherished great-grandchildren: Jayden Knight, Katelyn Knight, Finn Everhart, Tyson Phillips, Wells Everhart, Maia Phillips, Brynnleigh Jackson, and Eloise “Ellie” Reynolds. She also has several nieces and nephews.

Known as the heart of her family, Earlene embodied love, strength, and compassion. A deeply faithful woman, she offered support without hesitation, love without condition, and wisdom that will be treasured for generations. In her later years, she was often accompanied by her beloved sidekick, her dog Harley, who brought her great comfort and companionship.

In her later years, she often shared her spirited motto, “I’m 92 and I can do what I want,” reflecting the feisty and joyful personality that made her so special. Her laughter was infectious, her presence comforting, and her love immeasurable.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her family, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

The family will receive friends on Friday morning, May 1, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Baker Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Her son, Joey Phillips will officiate the service.

Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery.
