David Cairnes

David Cairnes, age 69, of Heath Springs, S.C., passed away, Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center, Lancaster, S.C. Born in Lancaster, S.C. he was a son of the late Raymond Cairnes and Estelle Robertson Cairnes. He was an arborist for Davey Tree Company. He enjoyed hunting and taking care of his dogs.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kimary Swilling “Kim” Cairnes; 3 step-children, Norma Banks, Michael (Allison Ballance) Swilling and David (Sarah) Banks; his step granddaughter who was like a daughter, Jasmin Johnson; 4 step grandchildren, Brandon and Taylor Swilling and Troy and Kaylin Banks; 2 brothers, Raymond Cairnes and Michael (Teresa) Cairnes; his sister, Linda (Nathan) Stegall and special nieces, Amanda Stegall and Paula Lail. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Walt Johnson and his brother, Ronnie Cairnes.

The family will hold a memorial service on Monday, April 14, 2025, in Camp Creek United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall at 2:00 P.M. Rev. Mike Catoe will officiate. A burial will be held at a later date in the church cemetery.

Memorial remembrances in memory of Mr. Cairnes may be made to Camp Creek United Methodist Church, 4721 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, S.C. 29720.
