Cleo Du Vall

Cleo Du Vall, 88, peacefully passed away Friday, August 14, 2026, at his home in Bethune, South Carolina. He was born May 29, 1938, in Hattieville, Arkansas, to Emmett Earl Du Vall and Mallie Dean (Jones) Du Vall.

Cleo graduated from Clifton Central High School in 1956. He married Sally Ann Church on October 2, 1971, at Wall Street Baptist Church in Kankakee, Illinois.

He is survived by his children, Cole Mitchell Du Vall, Thomas Wylie Du Vall, and Russell Warren Du Vall; step-daughters, Mary Lynn (Church) Keller and Christy Ann (Church) Alexander; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and six sisters, Bennie Lou Ehrich, Shirley Sue Downing, Linda Lois Smith, Lenora Raboin, Letha Ruth Anderson, and Hazel Lee Russell.

Cleo was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Ann Du Vall (2023), with whom he shared 52 years of marriage; his parents, Emmett Earl Du Vall and Mallie Dean (Jones) Du Vall; sisters, Earldean Moore, Eleanor Frances Bake, and Lula Bell Tull; and brothers, Elmo "Dick" Du Vall, Sammy Lynn Du Vall, James "Butch" Emmett Du Vall, and Leroy Du Vall.

Cleo worked for many years as an electrician before his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles, treasure hunting, and especially enjoyed playing a good game of Texas Hold'em poker. He held a deep appreciation for music and enjoyed expressing himself through writing poetry. Most importantly, Cleo accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at New Hope Baptist Church in Kankakee, Illinois, in 1976.

A graveside service for Cleo will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Timrod Baptist Church Cemetery, 4227 Timrod Road, Bethune, SC 29009. Pastor Jeremy Ussery will officiate.
