Christopher Allen Childress, 57, of Camden, SC passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026. He was a devoted son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend whose greatest joys in life were his faith and his family.
Christopher was born and raised in Charlotte, NC and is survived by his loving mother, Beverly Hathcock; his sister, Shawn McStravick (Stephen); his daughters, Kristi Collins (Dillon) and Angela Childress (Will); and his stepdaughter, Jennifer Ardis (Jonathan). He was a proud grandfather to Austin and Bristol Collins; Savannah Pendley; Lillian, Amelia, and Riley Ardis; and Waylon, Avery, and Walker McCaskill. Christopher was also a father figure to many throughout his life, always offering guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love.
Christopher spent much of his career as a truck driver, a profession that reflected his strong work ethic, dedication, and unwavering commitment to providing for those he loved. When he wasn’t behind the wheel, he could often be found helping others with handyman projects. No matter what the task, Christopher believed in giving his very best and took great pride in a job well done.
A faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church, Christopher loved the Lord with all his heart. His faith guided every aspect of his life, and he treasured every opportunity to spend time with his family. He found peace in the mountains, joy on the lake, and excitement in anything with a motor that could go fast. Whether he was enjoying a round of golf, working with his hands, or simply making memories with those he loved, Christopher embraced life with enthusiasm, generosity, and a servant’s heart.
One of Christopher’s most faithful companions was his beloved dog, Gracie, who held a special place in his heart and was truly his best girl.
Christopher will be remembered for his strength, kindness, unwavering faith, and the love he freely gave to his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the many lives he touched through his generosity, wisdom, compassion, and steadfast love.
Though he will be deeply missed, those who knew and loved Christopher find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
