Corley Lee (C.L.) Boone, age 80, of Kershaw, S.C. passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at his home. Born in Jefferson, S.C., he was the son of the late Corley Boone and Maudie Cassatt Boone.
C.L. was a veteran of the United States Army. He served his country in the Vietnam War.
C.L., and his wife, Diane, were the proud owners of 521 Grill in Kershaw for 30 years. He enjoyed serving the people of Kershaw and the surrounding areas. He loved meeting new people, hearing their stories, and telling his own stories. He loved for people to laugh and have a good time. His love for people continued during his retirement years helping the crew of Cater’s Taters at fairs and festivals.
C.L. was a faithful member of Abney Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and filled in as a teacher in the men’s Sunday school class. Also, he led a hospital fellowship team visiting church members who had surgery or sickness.
He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed the annual family beach trip to Myrtle Beach where he spent time with his grandchildren, their friends and Larry and Judy Polson.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Diane Boone; his son Eric (Deanna) Boone, and his daughter, Melinda Phillips; four grandchildren who loved him dearly, Andrew (Alyssa) Boone, Seth Boone, Mallory Phillips, and Ross Phillips; his brother Alton Boone; his sister, Susie Wright and a number of sisters in laws, brothers in laws, nieces, and nephews.
In additions to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Boone, and two sisters, Ruth Cassidy and Judy Sikes; a half-brother, Evie Boone; a sister-in-law, Margaret Boone and a brother-in-law, Wade Wright.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in Abney Baptist Church, 5180 Bethune Road, Kershaw, S.C. 29067 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 11:00 am in Abney Baptist Church. The Revs. Eric Boone and Scott Robinson will officiate. Burial will follow in the cemetery of Abney Baptist Church with military honors.
