Bleeka Hegler Carnes, 86, of Kershaw, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, January 19, 2026, at MUSC Kershaw Health Medical Center in Camden, South Carolina, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 17, 1939, she was the daughter of the late White Starnes and Elizabeth Hegler. Mrs. Carnes was a graduate of Heath Springs High School and was a faithful member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. She spent many years working at Culp Weaving in Pageland, South Carolina, before retiring.
Mrs. Carnes enjoyed an active and fulfilling life. She was a member of the Kershaw Senior Citizens Group and especially loved traveling and sharing time with friends through the organization. She will be remembered for her dedication to her family and her kind spirit.
She is survived by her three children: Teresa Brazell (Richard) of Lugoff, South Carolina; Cathy Roberts (Clint) of Westville, South Carolina; and Bobbie Jo Barfield (Daniel) of Kershaw, South Carolina; along with eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dennis Charles Hinson, and her second husband, Lee Carnes.
A graveside service to celebrate Mrs. Carnes’ life will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Kershaw, South Carolina, with the Rev. Dr. T. Jason Moss officiating. The burial will follow in the cemetery.
