Betty McCorkle McInvaille, 86, of Kershaw, South Carolina, went home to be with her Lord on Monday afternoon, December 15, 2025, at MUSC Health Kershaw Medical Center in Camden, South Carolina.
Born in Lancaster, South Carolina, Betty was the daughter of the late William Amos McCorkle and Elizabeth Queenie Snipes McCorkle. She lived her life devoted to her family, her faith, and her home. A loving and selfless homemaker, Betty found great joy in caring for those she loved and making sure everyone around her felt welcomed, supported, and cherished.
Betty was a faithful member of Buffalo Baptist Church, where her love for the Lord and her church family was evident to all who knew her. She also had a lighter side, she was an avid Elvis Presley fan, always enjoying his music, and she loved traveling whenever the opportunity arose. Those who knew her best will remember her gentle spirit, kind heart, and the steady love she gave so freely.
She is survived by her son, James W. “Billy” McInvaille, II (Crystal); five grandchildren, Chris Dillard (Jennifer), Amanda Dillard, Captain James William McInvaille III (Alexa), Jonathan Riley Bradley, and Avery Ryan Bradley; and three great-grandchildren, Greenly Dillard, Everly Dillard, and Emilia McInvaille, who brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her brother, Yancy McCorkle (Jackie), and her sister, Jackie Croxton.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James E. “Ed” McInvaille, who passed away on September 2, 2020. Ed was fondly known throughout the community as the “Shirt Man” or “Flag Man.” She was also preceded in death by her son, Edwin Randolph “Randy” McInvaille, on December 22, 1977, losses she carried with quiet strength and enduring faith.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Baker Funeral Home in Kershaw, South Carolina. A service to celebrate and honor Betty’s life will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery, where Betty will be laid to rest with her husband, who will be honored with Navy military honors.
