Betty L. Etters Hanley, age 78, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Saturday morning, December 9, 2023, at Lancaster Health and Rehabilitation, Lancaster, S.C. She was born, July 1, 1945, in Clinton, S.C., to the late James Etters and Ella Mae Taylor Etters. Mrs. Hanley was a devoted minister’s wife. She assisted her husband as he pastored Graniteville Church of God, Lydia Mill Church of God, Kershaw Church of God, Outland Church of God, Goose Greek Church of God, and Georgetown Church of God. She gave of her time and talents by ministering through the Puppet Ministry, serving as an Adult Sunday School teacher, decorating cakes, sewing, and making all types of crafts. She was a member of Kershaw Church of God.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Susan (Mark) Hanley and Brenda (Charles) Ellis and a son, Randy (Susan) Young; 5 grandchildren, Becky (Michael) Williams, Beth (Damien) Ross, Will (Maegan) Day, Brandy Ellis and her fiancé, Frankie Everette, and Nick (Amanda) Ellis; 4 great grandchildren, Dray, Skylar, Chance, and Axel and 2 sisters, Martha Ann McCord of Greenwood, S.C. and Mary Ellen Bell of Gaffney, S.C. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William Robert Hanley and her siblings, Shirley Shipp, Thomas (Billy) Etters, Hattie Mae Landers, Irene Nelson, and David Craine.
A service to remember and honor her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Lugoff Church of God, Lugoff, S.C. Rev. Tim Shirley and Pastor Tyler Nations. Entombment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Camden, S.C.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

The family would also like to thank Vivian for the love and care shown to Mrs. Hanley when she was at home.
