April Megan Ellis, age 36, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday morning, May 10, 2026, at Atrium Health Pineville, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Frances Williams Ellis and the late John Wylie Ellis, Jr.
April was a dedicated rural carrier with the United States Postal Service and a faithful member of Sandy Grove United Methodist Church. She had a kind and giving spirit, always willing to help others and bring joy through the crafts she lovingly created. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing softball. Above all, April treasured the time she spent with her family and children, who were the center of her life. She also had a special love for the color purple and butterflies, which reflected her bright and gentle spirit.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Earle D. Patterson, Jr.; her children, John B. Foster, Zachariah E. Patterson, Khloe E. Patterson, Janiah D. Patterson, and Alanna D. Patterson; her two grandsons, Kenai Patterson and Azyr Sellers; her brother, Michael W. Rainey; her sisters, Francis Kimbrell and Samantha (Jeremy) Ussery; her brothers-in-law, Chris Patterson, Eric Seegars, and Phillip Patterson; along with a number of beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.
A service to celebrate and remember April’s life will be held Friday, May 15, 2026, at 12:00 noon in the sanctuary of Sandy Grove United Methodist Church. The burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements are under the care of Baker Funeral Home.
