Adam Craig Faulkenberry, age 44, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2025. Adam was born at Eglin Air Force Base, in Valparaiso, Florida on September 4, 1981. He and his family moved to Laurinburg, NC when he was 6 years old. He graduated from Scotland High School in 1999 and attended Cape Fear Community College where he received a diploma in Boat Building.
Adam was an excellent carpenter and became equally skilled at many aspects of construction. He was a dedicated, hard worker with a sharp mind who could repair or build most anything. He generously used these skills to help his grandparents and parents with numerous projects in their homes and yards. Adam was deeply compassionate toward the truly vulnerable. He is remembered for his radical generosity and the numerous ways he reached out to help someone in crisis. He felt this calling deeply as reflected by his large angel tattoo which reads, “My brother’s keeper.”
Adam deeply loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, sharing funny stories together, and grilling out with them. Adam’s other great love was the ocean. From his childhood to his final days, the ocean called him. He loved to surf from a young age and had surfed in Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Florida and the Carolinas. Some of his happiest moments were spent by the ocean watching the waves or seeing a sunrise or sunset.
Adam is survived by his parents, Dr. Brad Faulkenberry and wife Kim McDow Faulkenberry, his brothers, Dr. Luke Faulkenberry and wife Kimberly, Daniel Faulkenberry; his grandmother, Mrs. Sue C. McDow, his precious nephew, Noah Faulkenberry, (who he wanted to teach to surf next summer) and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Service of remembrance will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Kershaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 201 North Cleveland Street, Kershaw, SC. The family will greet friends in the fellowship hall afterwards. A private family graveside service will be held prior to the funeral in Kershaw City Cemetery, Kershaw, SC.
Adam will be remembered for his love of family, his deep gratitude, his wonderful sense of humor, his generous laughter and mostly for his courageous resilience and determination to overcome the unimaginable hardships of addiction.
