William Joey Munn, 78, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away Friday evening, May, 14, 2021, at MUSC Lancaster Medical Center, Lancaster, S.C. Born in the Mt. Pisgah community of Kershaw Co. S.C.; he was a son of the late James M. and Addie Seegars Munn. Mr. Munn retired from DuPont in Lugoff, S.C., where he was an electrical safety engineer.
Nothing brought him more satisfaction than working in his yard and it was truly a yard worthy of Southern Living magazine winning yard of the month on several occasions. Mr. Munn collected model cars and license plates and loved shopping for them at various consignment stores. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and attending car shows. Earlier he played golf for many years and excelled at it with a single-digit handicap. Most importantly to him, he cherished his grandchildren and the time he spent with them. He loved them unconditionally. Mr. Munn served as member of the Board of Directors for the John T. Stevens Foundation and also served as the treasurer.
Surviving is the love of his life and faithful wife of 59 years, Peggy C. Munn, whom he married July 4, 1962; 2 sons, Doug Munn and Mike Munn and his wife, Lisa; 6 adored grandchildren, Justin Munn, Kyle Munn and his wife, Rachel, Braxton Munn and his wife, Erin, Hannah Munn, Madelyn Munn and Will Munn; 2 great grandchildren, Simmie Munn and Nolan Munn; his daughter-in-law, Dr. Nicki Munn; 2 brothers, Ervin Munn and his wife, Nancy, Sherrill Munn and his wife, Debbie ; his sister, Sandra Knight and her husband, Jerry and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pat Davis and her husband, Mitch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his youngest son, Jason Munn.
