Obituary for Wilbur Horton, Sr.
A graveside service for Wilbur L. Horton, Sr., 80 of Kershaw, will be held at 4:00 o’clock p.m., Sunday, August 11, 2019 in the Kershaw City Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Trent McLaughlin will officiate.
Mr. Horton passed away, Thursday, August 8, in MUSC Health, Lancaster. Born in Kershaw, he was a son of the late Lonnie Horton and Frances Taylor Horton. He retired from Archer Daniels Midland Co. and was the owner/operator of Horton’s Garage. Mr. Horton was a member of Pineview Baptist Church and enjoyed his wrecker service business.
Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Joyce A. Robinson Horton; 3 sons, Wilbur L. Horton, Jr. and his wife Sherry, Lonnie M. Horton, Jay Lynn Horton and his wife Peggy all of Kershaw; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and his sister, Gay Nell Horton of McBee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Francis “Puddin” Horton and a daughter-in-law, Patty Horton.
The family will receive friends following the service in the cemetery and other times at the home of his granddaughter, 5339 Ussery Rd., Kershaw.
