Funeral services for Wayne Lucas, 71, of Kershaw, will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, July 22, 2012, in Flat Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Revs. Bart Miles and Charlie Simmons will officiate. Mr. Lucas died Friday, July 20, at his home. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Ernest Boag and Sulee Small Lucas. He retired from Joslyn-Clark Control after 30 plus years of service. He was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church and had served on Lancaster County Council for 13 years . Surviving are his wife, Laney Gardner Lucas of the home, 2 daughters; Carmen L. Marshall and her husband Reed of Lugoff, Sonya L. Adams and her husband “Buddy” of Kershaw, five grandchildren, Lindsey Marshall, Mallory Marshall, Natalie Marshall, Kinsley Adams and Joshua Adams, two brothers, E. B. Lucas, Odell “Nick” Lucas, both of Kershaw; three sisters, Lou Couch of Heath Springs, Suzanne Roberts and Judy Hinson both of Kershaw. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas, “Toostie” and Carl Lucas. The family will receive friends, Sunday, July 22, prior to the service from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the church and other times at the home, 407 West Welsh Street, Kershaw.
