Obituary for Vernon Lee Gainey
Vernon Lee Gainey, 66, of Jefferson, S.C., passed away, Saturday afternoon, October 30, 2021, at MUSC Medical Center, Charleston, S.C. Born in Camden, S.C., he was a son of the late Roy Gainey, Jr. and Mary Wright “Sweetie” Melton. Mr. Gainey retired from the South Carolina Office of Regulatory Staff where he was Pipeline Safety Manager. He enjoyed playing music, Clemson football and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Elaine Price Gainey of the home; 2 sons, Vernon Lee Gainey, Jr. and his wife Angie of Lancaster, S.C. and Brandon Gainey and his wife, Nikki of Jefferson, S.C.; 4 grandchildren, Brooke Gainey, Brenna Gainey, Brantley Gainey and Bailey Grace Gainey; 2 brothers, Gordon Gainey and his wife, Elise of Camden, S.C. and Faron Gainey and his wife, Cyndie of Mt. Juliet, TN and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends, Tuesday evening, November 2, 2021, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, Kershaw, S.C.

Funeral services for Mr. Gainey will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday afternoon, November 3, 2021, at Faith Family Church, Jefferson, S.C., where he was a faithful member. Pastor Eddie Smith will officiate and Mr. Gordon Gainey will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Gainey may be made to Faith Family Church – Building Fund, 5779 Mt. Pisgah Road, Jefferson, S.C. 29718.
