Obituary for Vernon Kent Horton
A funeral service for Vernon Kent Horton, 61 of Babcock Center, Columbia, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015, in Providence Baptist Church, Kershaw. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Horton died Saturday, April 4, in PalmettoHealth Richland Hospital, Columbia. Born in Rock Hill, he was a son of Paschal V. Horton and the late Dorothy Neely Horton. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and a avid Carolina Gamecock fan. Mr. Horton also worked at various jobs that he enjoyed. Surviving in addition to his father of Kershaw, are his brother, Robert Horton and his wife Teresa; a niece, Emily Horton; a nephew, Keith Mills, and a great niece, Ava. H. Gonzales. He also leaves a host of friends at the Babcock Center. The family would like to thank the staff of Babcock Center and PalmettoHealth Richland Hospital for the wonderful care and love shown to Kent. Memorials in memory of Kent may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 3334 Providence Rd., Kershaw, SC 29067 or Special Olympics South Carolina, 1276 Assembly St., Columbia, SC 29201-3122. The family will receive friends Monday, April 6, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at the home, 4425 Bethune Road, Kershaw. Baker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
