Obituary for Tommy Coates
A graveside service for William Tommy Coates, Jr., 65 of Lugoff, SC will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014, in Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Kershaw. Rev. Bobby James will officiate. Mr. Coates died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at his home. Born in Kershaw, he was a son of the late William Tommy, Sr. and Mabel Baker Coates. He enjoyed working at the Board of Disabilities and Special Needs Center, playing the harmonica, guitar and singing. He also loved horses. Surviving are 5 sisters; Betty Holcomb of Kershaw, Joan Johnson of Cassatt, Shirley Hunter of Kershaw, Annette Faile (Quincy) of Kershaw, Geraldine Truesdale (Lonnie) of Kershaw and 2 brothers; Doug Coates and Val Coates both of Kershaw. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Hazel and Larry Coates. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service in the church Fellowship Hall and other times at the home of his sister, Geraldine Truesdale, 3875 Old Georgetown Rd., Kershaw.
