Obituary for Ruth B. Lucas
Ruth Byars Lucas, 95, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Monday morning, March 7, 2022, at her home. Ruth was born, October 21, 1926, in Rock Hill, S.C., to the late R.H. “Bob” Byars and Dovie Lee Rains Byars.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Odell Nick Lucas; 3 brothers, Jack, Paul and Irby Ray and 3 sisters, Dorothy, Reedy and Sarah.
She is survived by her son, Mitchell “Mitch” O. Lucas (Allison), of Kershaw, S.C.; her daughter, Bridget L. Rhodes (Wayne) of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; 6 grandchildren, Amanda Shores (Jonathan) of Columbia, S.C., Nicki Jackson (Jeff) of Kershaw, S.C., Clint Faile (Melissa) of Rock Hill, S.C., Lindy Catoe (Brannan) of Kershaw, S.C., Ashley Holliday (Taylor) of Kershaw, S.C. and Jennifer Royall of Belmont, N.C.; 15 great grandchildren; 5 great - great grandchildren; her sister, Sally Blaich and sister-in-law, Judy Hinson (Crawford).
Funeral services for Mrs. Lucas will be held at 10:00 o’clock a.m., Wednesday morning, March 9, 2022, in the sanctuary of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. The Reverends Dr. Jason Moss and Ronnie Hinson will conduct the service.
The family will greet friends immediately following the service in the church sanctuary.
Burial will be in the Kershaw City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Mrs. Lucas’s special caregiver, Barbara Cayruth for the love and care shown to her.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Lucas may be made to Kershaw Second Baptist Church Building Fund, 7737 Kershaw Camden Highway, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
