Ronald McMurray “Boxie” Hunter, 69, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020, at Prisma Health Richland. Born in Lancaster, S.C., he was the son of the late James Blease Hunter and Louise McMurray Eaker. Mr. Hunter was retired from Duracell and was a member of Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church. He was a United States Army veteran. He loved dirt track racing, working on lawn mowers and fishing. He also loved the outdoors.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Cathy Alford Hunter; 2 daughters, Misty Burgess and Amy Hunter both of Kershaw, S.C.; 5 grandchildren, Chelsey Hunter, Hailey Hunter, Ryan Burgess, Abbigail Burgess and Devin Hunter; 4 great grandchildren, K.J., Kolton, Kennedy, and Kamden Gardner and his brother, Jerry (Mary Ann) Hunter.
The family will hold a memorial service Friday, December 18, at 2:00 p.m. in Haile Gold Mine Baptist Church. Rev. Adam Wright will officiate.
