Obituary for Roderick "Pete" Phillips
Roderick "Pete" Phillips, 82, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away Thursday morning, December 30, 2021, at Lancaster Health & Rehabilitation Center, Lancaster, S.C. Born in Kershaw, S.C., he was the son of the late J.W. Phillips and Corine Waters Phillips. Mr. Phillips loved working in his yard and his rose bushes. He was a faithful member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. Mr. Phillips also honorably served his country in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his son, Jesse Phillips and his children, Jessica Samuels (Thomas), Brittany Hinson (Marty), Ashley Croy (Brandon), and their children, Trey Hinson, Axel Croy and baby boy Samuels, due June 2022; his daughter, Rita Payne (Donnie) and her son Daniel Payne (Danielle) and 3 sisters, Linda Newman (Nelson), Judy Phillips and Jessie Hunter (Stephen). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Croxton Phillips, a great grandson, Kole Samuels and his brother, Wayne Phillips.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held Saturday, January 1, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in Kershaw City Cemetery. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Rev. Ronnie Hinson will officiate.
